Javier Ferrero is a lawyer from the University of Lima Law School (2002), with an LL.M. from American University Washington College of Law (2003-2004).
He has more than 16 years of experience in dispute resolution in the field of international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration, as well as domestic arbitration, having represented public and private companies as part of his work in leading international and domestic law firms.
As part of his professional experience, he has participated in various investment arbitrations before the World Bank's International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (“ICSID”), as well as ad hoc international commercial arbitrations under the Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (‘UNCITRAL’), before the International Chamber of Commerce (“ICC”), before the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (“CIAC”) and before the Paris International Arbitration Chamber (“CAIP”) with offices in Washington, D.C., New York, and Paris, as well as in hearings in those countries and in Mexico City and Miami.
Javier also has experience in public-private partnerships in various sectors, as well as in hydrocarbon exploitation license agreements and mining matters, which he has handled in the context of various domestic and international disputes.
He also serves as an arbitrator, being a member of the List of Arbitrators of the most important arbitration centers in Peru, where he has served as sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, and President of the Arbitral Tribunal. He is also a member of the List of Arbitrators of the Paris International Arbitration Chamber (“CAIP”).
He is the Delegate for Peru of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Commission (2024-2027) and Secretary of the Board of Directors of the ICC Arbitration Commission - Peru.
Javier has been recognized as a Next Generation Partner by Legal 500 in the category of “arbitration” in 2024 and 2025. He currently teaches the course “International Trade and Investment Protection” in the Master's Degree in Business Law at the University of Lima.
